GO MAPPIT

GO MAPPIT is a groceries shop map organizer that helps to guide the customers to the journey of a more efficient shopping experience in groceries shops. It enhances efficiency of grocery shopping which focuses on users will different abilities and focus on inclusive and equity design.

PAIN POINT

Users with disabilities are unable to shop in the grocery store efficiently because people are having trouble seeing, hearing and communicating. Users in a rush are unable to find the product they are looking for efficiently and in a short amount of time.

BACKGROUND

  • Grocery shopping is a “must go place“ for everyone. I would say for myself, I go grocery shopping at least once a week. We always have this struggle of difficulty finding the grocery we are seeking to buy. Sometimes we are in a rush and needs to finish grocery shopping in 10mins. Grocery shopping can sometimes be non-inclusive of people with disabilities. The project is to apply empathy to create an App that supports people with different abilities, groups, race and sex to increase efficiency on their grocery shopping on the daily bases.

  • In the process of research, I discovered of how customers struggle to find the product they are looking for. It is even more difficult for people with disabilities. I also noticed of how customers will want to check nutrition facts and expiration date on the product. This process is not user-friendly because it could be difficult for people:

    • Who are visually impaired to read info on the product and or find product by themselves.

    • Who does not understand English.

    • Who are hearing impaired.

    • Who are older and needs personal assistant.

  • When I started my research on building the App, it was very crucial for me to make sure that the final product will be something unique but at the same time still provides other efficient functions for the users regarding shopping in grocery shops. I saw that there were a lot of apps that supports people to get access of groceries efficiently, but they are usually online groceries shopping apps rather than an App that supports physical grocery shoppings. Also, a lot of the groceries app does not have inclusive and equity designed within their product. My goal is to concentrate on inclusive and equity design that includes all users of different race, sex and abilities. I want to provide them access to something that they will feel comfortable using while shopping groceries but at the same time increase their efficiency on grocery shoppings.
